Orange and pink flowers

Courtyard at Rolling Ridge, North Andover,

Courtyard at Rolling Ridge, North Andover, 9" X 12", Oil on panel

This was mostly painted on location at one of Andover Artists Guild plein air events. I like the pink and orange colors of this historic house at Rolling Ridge Conference and Retreat Centre in North Andover.

Shawsheen river, Andover,

Shawsheen river #2, 11" X 14", Acrylic on panel, Sold

I painted a broader view of the Shawsheen river and the surrounding marshes. This is in summer. I like to play with color harmony. It is different than the usual green landscapes of summer.

I like how the marsh on the left jumps out from background trees. The little bit of water showing through helps a lot.

Shawsheen River, Andover, Sold

Shawsheen river #1 Andover, Acrylic on panel, 14" X 11", Sold
The Shawsheen river lives up to its name. It meanders through areas in Andover and near by neighborhoods. Many of the Merrimack Valley trails are along this beautiful river.

I painted this in the studio from reference photographs and sketches. This was a summer scene, I modified the tree colors to make a more colorful composition. The light is coming from behind the trees to the right, you can feel it piercing through the trees and on the marshes.

Happy to announce that this painting has been selected at the juried Shawsheen River Arts exhibit  on display at the Andover Historical Society from September 10 - December 22, 2016. Please do visit this local exhibition.
