House on Central Street

House on Central Street, 8" X 8", Oil on canvas

This painting is currently in the Places exhibition at the Andover Historical Society.
This house is at the intersection of Central St and Chestnut St in Andover, MA. I was enjoying a walk along the many streets in downtown Andover when this lovely house caught my attention. I liked looking at the architecture, the windows and the colorful landscaping. The flag was the icing on the cake. This pretty scene was a feast to my eyes.

Sketches of the painting "West Parish Church from the Children's garden pagoda"

I recently completed a new studio painting, a view of the West Parish Church from the Children's garden pagoda in Andover, Massachusetts. I was awe struck by the tall white steeple. The light shining on it what so bright and pure.

I wanted to share with you some sketches done on location.

This painting is currently in the Places exhibition at the Andover Historical Society.

My inspiration for this painting was the West Parish Church in Andover, MA. I visit the Children's garden and the West Parish garden cemetery occasionally. This time, I was sitting in the lovely shade of the pagoda. The light shining on the tall white steeple captured my attention.  It was very bright and beautiful. I felt a sense of peace and grandeur at the same time. I observed the architecture for a while and then began to sketch the details. You can read more details about the process of creating this painting here.
